About myself
I am Mel Lamagna, a pianist, composer, producer, lyricist, and software developer based in Jersey City, New Jersey.
Starting from the little juice-box-laden age of seven, I attended music school at Veltri Studios for over a decade; after this, I had decided to take my musical experience one step further, becoming student director of all student-led choirs and a cappella groups in my high school.
It was in high school that I'd decided to branch off into my own independent songwriting. Motivated by love, encouraged by friends, and fueled by an inner desire to create, I penned my first piano piece—a sort of serenade that woke my inner muse, who graciously chose to guide me to this day. I played it one day, half-finished, for the same group of friends—nervously, but to unexpected applause. I still remember that day clearly; I have very vivid memories of staring into the cherry wood finish of that piano after my performance, partly relieved and overall blissfully unaware of where that moment would take me later in life.
Today, I am a grateful participant in the art of others; many of my friends are songwriters and filmmakers, and my muse and I do our best to assist them. I'm hoping you can also be part of this story.
